My parents, Clarence Perley Copp and Elizabeth Ann Moore, were both born in Stanstead, Quebec about 25 km away from Georgeville, Quebec where our multiple great grandfather, Capt. Moses Copp, settled in 1797. My father joined the Canadian Armed Forces in the early 1950's before marrying my mother on December 28th, 1955. Together they moved to various air force bases in Canada about every three years until my father retired from CFB Cold Lake, Alberta as an air weapons technician holding the rank of Sergeant. My brother, Bryan Maurice Copp was born May 13th, 1960 and I followed on February 7th, 1964.
After my father retired, in 1978, we all moved to Edmonton, Alberta where my mother, who always loved to read, worked for the Edmonton Public Library for for 20 years. Bryan worked as a Dental Lab Technician with the Canadian Armed Forces for three years before following his true artistic calling by becoming a goldsmith and making and selling beautiful jewelry for the past 25 years.
As for me, I was educated and worked in Public Relations until I was 28-years-old when I made a dramatic career change by becoming a police officer with the Edmonton Police Service - I never looked back. I have always found my work fulfilling, challenging, and meaningful in my community. I now hold the rank of Detective within our Sexual Assault Section.
I live in a lovely bungalow which I share with my signficant other, Christian Barbar, and my two SPCA wonderdogs, Sandi and Simba. I have travelled quite a bit in Europe, back-packed in the Rocky Mountains, and paddled through lake chains in British Columbia. I also love to sing and do all styles of dancing.
